Below we’ve compiled some of the most commonly asked questions about fine line or micro tattoos. Whether you’re a first time tattoo client, or looking to grow your collection of tattoo artwork, this section will guide you through some valuable information about what you can expect when booking a fine line or micro tattoo with us.
Tattoos are permanent body modifications, however, over time ALL tattoos will fade. Due to their delicate nature, fine line tattoos tend to fade more quickly than traditional tattoos, and will need to be touched up over time. A fine line tattoo will not always need a touch up directly after it heals, but we recommend coming back 6-8 weeks after the session so that your artist can assess if one is needed. Placement and design will play a part in the longevity of your fine line tattoo.
Actually, yes. Finger, knee, foot, and elbow areas will fade tattoos faster than other areas on the body. The constant movement, and stretching/flexing of the skin in these areas causes the skin on these areas to regenerate quicker, and therefore fade ink faster.
The state of Minnesota requires anyone receiving a tattoo to be over the age of 18. Valid photo identification is required. We can accept state driver’s license, state ID card, passport, military ID, and tribal ID. Sorry, we cannot accept photos of your identification, you must have the ID physically with you.
Since we use smaller needle configurations during a tiny tattoo service, and the area being tattooed is small, the pain is typically much less than with the traditional tattooing process. Discomfort varies with where the tattoo is placed on the body, and the client’s personal pain threshold, but generally the service is not very uncomfortable.
The best way to extend the lifespan of your fine line tattoo is to protect it from the sun (wearing a sunscreen directly on them daily, paying special attention to reapply sunscreen every two hours, especially when in direct sunlight), and keep products with regenerative or exfoliating properties off them. Products with regenerative or exfoliating properties would contain components such as retinol, retain-A, glycolic acid, lactic acid, AHA’s, or BHA’s.
The length of time for an appointment will vary with size and design, with more detailed works taking longer. Typically, the appointment can take anywhere from one to two hours.
It is very uncommon for a client to have anything beyond very small pinpoint bleeding, if any, during a fine line tattoo procedure.
Make sure you are hydrated and have something to eat at least 3-4 hours before you are scheduled to have a fine line tattoo done. We recommend not consuming alcohol for the 24 hours before your fine line tattoo appointment.
Yes, we do. However, based on our experience they do not always heal well due to the constant use our hands get, and the regeneration factor of the skin on that area. You will need to get approval from your artist before you book in for a micro finger tattoo (you can do so by emailing your artist directly to chat with them about your design idea). If the artist approves the scope of the work you’d like tattooed on your fingers, you will be asked to sign a waiver stating that you understand that the outcome cannot be guaranteed, and that your finger tattoo may need frequent touch ups.
Yes, the inside of the hands (palm area), and bottoms of feet. But each project is taken on a case by case basis, and there may be other areas your artist wouldn’t recommend based on the individual and design.
